Experience Hands-On Learning in the Classroom

At Denver Lab School, we believe that knowledge is not only developed through teacher direction but also through hands-on learning. By implementing hands-on learning activities and lessons our teachers allow students to work through “real world” problems and learn by “doing.” Experiential learning plays a vital role in honing a child’s skills, and it allows students to have more opportunities for intellectual and ethical growth.

Developing Skills through Hands-on Learning

Middle school students have boundless imaginations that make them abundant in ideas and bold thinkers. At Denver Lab School we encourage our students to think critically when interacting with new material and push them to make their own discoveries. We also encourage our students and teachers to have interactive discussions during lessons to achieve better and more meaningful learning experiences.

Our hands-on learning program is focused on building lessons where students can relate to and engage with the subjects they are learning about. It also aims to allow students to use their creativity and resourcefulness, which are very exponential to learning. Through our well-versed curriculum and hands-on learning opportunities, Denver Lab School challenges and drives children to success.

Nurture Lifelong Interest for Learning

Learning becomes more effective when different parts of the brain are engaged, and Denver Lab School incorporates hand-on learning so our students experience many different learning styles before they even get to high school. Our hands-on education system aims to mold and engage students using these three key learning approaches:

  • Kinesthetic Learning

Involvement of physical activities to establish a vibrant and exciting way of learning. Instead of using a listening or lecture approach to relay information to the students, we opt to add tactile learning series that nurture a child’s ability to retain information, improve muscle memory, and lead to more engaged participation in class.

  • Problem Solving Skills

We want our students to be ready to face the challenges of the “real world,” which is why we work on developing their problem-solving skills through hands-on learning. At Denver Lab School, we teach our students how to have an eye for decision making and analysis by incorporating daily problem-solving exercises.

  • Trial and Error Learning

At Denver Lab School, we encourage our students to learn through observation, error, and correction. Trial and error learning teaches children that in academics and real-life it takes practice to be a master of something, and how to learn from their mistakes.
